No one knows exactly when the world will end, however there have been many claims and hypothesis of events which will bring destruction upon our world Earth soon! Or make a major transformation on it. It’s believed by some scientists and spiritual individuals that the world will end in the year 2012 and some accurately proposing on the 12th December of that year. So the world has been predicted to end on 12th December 2012, but as you’re already aware there has already been so many of these End of the world or doom’s day date predictions before which we’ve managed to pass through gracefully without any signs. I’ll list some of these events below.

The most convincing end of the world predictions are those which we haven’t yet gone through and surprisingly some of these predictions are very old, some having predicted in ancient times. The one which is gaining more popularity is based on the Mesoamerican Long count calendar also known as the Mayan calendar. The Mayan calendar is a very old ancient and still used calendar which has duration of 5000 years before resetting back to 0. December 2012 marks the ending of the current baktun cycle and the beginning of another, a date which would have been considered extremely important among the Mayan civilisation.

Many New agers believe that the ending of this cycle, the planet and its inhabitants may undergo a positive physical or spiritual transformation and that after this cycle a new era will begin. This transformation is said to be a global “consciousness shift”

Another predicted global event that will occur and mark the end of the world is the scientific idea of Galactic alignment but this idea is not exclusive to 2012, the event takes place over a 36-year period, corresponding to the sun’s diameter. The last event must have occurred in 1998. I’ll add a very good quote that explains the idea.

“In the solar system, the planets and the Sun share roughly the same plane of orbit, known as the plane of the ecliptic. From our perspective on Earth, the Zodiacal constellations move along or near the ecliptic, and over time, appear to recede counterclockwise by one degree every 72 years. This movement is attributed to a slight wobble in the Earth’s axis as it spins. As a result, approximately every 2160 years, the constellation visible on the early morning of the spring equinox changes. In Western astrological traditions, this signals the end of one astrological age (currently the Age of Pisces) and the beginning of another (Age of Aquarius). Over the course of 26,000 years, the precession of the equinoxes makes one full circuit around the ecliptic.

Just as the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere is currently in the constellation of Pisces, so the winter solstice is currently in the constellation of Sagittarius, which happens to be the constellation intersected by the galactic equator. Every year for the last 1000 years or so, on the winter solstice, the Earth, Sun and the galactic equator come into alignment, and every year, precession pushes the Sun’s position a little way further through the Milky Way’s band.”

Geomagnetic reversal also known as “Polar shift” is another scientific proposed prediction of the end of the world. This event would be triggered by a massive solar flare which might contain energy the equivalent of 100 billion atomic bombs. The polar shift is supported by the observation of Earth’s magnetic field which is said to be weakening, indicating an impending reversal of the north and south magnetic poles. Earth is believed to be overdue for this geomagnetic reversal and has been for a long time, even since the time of the Mayans, because the last reversal is said to have took place 780, 000 years ago.

A planet called Nibiru is believed to collide with or pass by Earth in the same year. The results of it doing so upon Earth are unimaginable.

There has been many other end of the world predictions from spiritual individuals and famous characters; and written in religious books like the famous book, the Bible in Revelation, but none of these predictions where dated or a precious day on which they’ll occur was given. In Revelation, the Bible dramatically describes the end of the world and informs us that the event will happen very soon and “unexpectedly”.

Sure there has been many End of the world/Earth predictions before but this particular year or date definitely requires the most attention. The only fact one has to realise is that no one knows exactly when the end of the world will occur, but the world will end some day and that is another fact we all have to live with.
